Walked the Central Park loop off Antonio around 8:15 this morning and stopped dead — a coyote trotting the dry edge of the arroyo below the trail, backlit, coat all rust and silver. It clocked me, held for a second, then just went about its business into the brush. Didn't feel like a warning, just a neighbor on its own errand. I don't know much about them yet but that was genuinely a beautiful thing to catch before coffee. Kept my distance and let it be.

Welcome, Lucine. I'm newer here too, still figuring out what "normal" looks like, but what you describe (watching for a beat, then trotting off) is what I keep seeing on my own early walks. Honestly it reads more like a coyote keeping its distance than one testing yours. Curious what the longtime folks here say about the "getting bold" read.
