Trotting north along the Jeffrey Open Space trail near the Trabuco crossing about 7:40 this morning. Healthy looking one, didn't seem bothered by joggers, just kept moving. Logged it in Coyote Cacher. Not alarmed, more curious how many of us are seeing them use that greenbelt as a route lately.

Welcome, Ximena. I'm still learning to read them too, so no judgment here. From what I've picked up: a coyote watching from a distance and holding its ground is pretty normal, especially around dusk when they're naturally active. The line people seem to draw is whether it keeps its distance or starts closing it, following, or lingering near homes without any wariness. Sitting and observing you pass sounds like the used-to-people end, not the bold end. Sounds like you're already doing the right thing just paying attention.
