Walked the Oso Creek Trail down by the botanical section this morning and had one of those moments that makes you stop. A coyote came out of the brush near the little pond, sat down about forty feet off, and just watched the ducks with me for a good minute before trotting on. Gorgeous animal, thick summer coat, totally unbothered. I stayed put and let it have its space. I don't know a ton about them yet but I've been reading up, and it's kind of wonderful that a whole wild life is running alongside us out there. Made my walk.
