2am and a whole pack of them let loose right behind our fence off Sand Canyon near the Quail Hill trailhead. Not one or two — a full chorus, yipping and howling maybe fifteen feet from the kids' window. Both of them woke up terrified and one wouldn't go back to sleep until almost 4. I get that they were here first, I've read the coexistence stuff. But there's a difference between a coyote crossing the greenbelt at dusk and a pack setting up that close to a house full of sleeping children in the middle of the night. That felt like a warning, not wildlife. What I actually want to know: is there anything the city or HOA does when they're denning or grouping this close to homes? I reported it on Coyote Cacher but that feels like it just goes into a database. Do we have any say in whether they get pushed back from the residential edge, or is the answer just "get used to it"? Genuinely asking, because right now my kids are scared to sleep in their own room and I need to be able to tell them something.
