Small win worth sharing: our HOA finally added two of those hooded, latching trash enclosures near the Glenwood Park side of the neighborhood, and the difference in a week has been noticeable. We used to get a coyote cutting through the greenbelt off Aliso Creek Trail right around dusk, nosing at whatever spilled on pickup day. Since the bins stopped being a buffet, our morning walks with Biscuit (our little cavalier) have been calm — one trotted along the far tree line yesterday around 6:30am, looked at us, and kept going about its business. I still keep him leashed and close on that stretch, and I carry the pack a little tighter when the elementary school lets out, but it's been a good reminder that a lot of this comes down to what we leave out for them to find.

Okay the latching bins are the piece I keep getting stuck on — did your HOA cover the cost or did residents chip in? Ours in Irvine keeps punting on it and meanwhile I've got a six-year-old and a small dog, so anything that cuts down the dusk visits I want to bring to our board with actual numbers.

This tracks with what we've seen in Laguna Niguel too — once the easy food disappears, they go back to just passing through, which is honestly all most of us are asking for. Glad Biscuit's mornings are calm again.

Genuinely curious about the 6:30am sighting — is a coyote out and visible at that hour considered normal around here, or more of a bins-were-open thing? Still figuring out where the line is between 'that's just Tuesday' and 'worth flagging.'
