Bringing this to the HOA meeting next week and wanted to sanity-check first. The trash enclosures along our stretch off Rancho Viejo don't fully latch anymore and the lids sit open half the week. I've watched a coyote nose around them twice now near the Trabuco Creek trail edge, and I don't love that we're basically setting out a buffet. I'm not trying to make this a big fear thing, they were here before the tract was, but if we can fix the latches and maybe ask the landscapers to hold off on the pre-dawn watering that leaves puddles, that's two easy asks. Anyone know if that falls under the master association or our sub-HOA? Trying to send the request to the right people so it doesn't just bounce around.

Thao, the "big and loud" stuff is real, but with an 8-pound dog on-leash it's incomplete. What actually helped me: I carry a cheap air horn and keep Biscuit-sized dogs on a short leash so I can scoop fast. Two coyotes standing and watching is them getting comfortable with the trail, not a coincidence. I'd change up your route and time for a while, and near the creek where your grandkids play, walk it first each morning and keep it clear of fallen fruit and pet food. I'm still figuring this out too, honestly.
