Walking our little cavapoo along the Oso Creek Trail near the Marguerite tennis courts this week and twice now we've had a coyote just standing off the path in the morning, maybe 7am, watching us go by. It didn't do anything, just watched, but my stomach dropped both times and I ended up carrying the dog the rest of the way. My kids walk that same stretch to Del Cerro in the fall and our HOA hasn't said a word about it. I'm not trying to make it a bigger deal than it is, I just want to know what actually keeps everyone safe on that trail in the early hours. What do you all do with a small dog at that time of day?

Funny timing, I've seen what sounds like the same one near the Marguerite courts around then too, always just sitting in the tall grass by the creek. I'm still figuring out what counts as normal coyote behavior versus something to actually flag, so I've mostly just noted the time and kept moving. Curious whether the morning sightings on Oso Creek are a regular pattern or if a few of us are seeing the same individual.
