Emailed our HOA board twice now about the trash situation up near Bluebird Canyon and still nothing back. The cans on our street sit out overnight before pickup and half of them don't latch — I've watched a coyote work one open around 5:40am like it does it every day. If the bins are basically a free buffet, of course they keep coming through the neighborhood. Can we PLEASE get the enclosures they promised in the spring, or at minimum a rule that cans go out morning-of, not the night before? And the landscaping crew leaves the side gate by the mailboxes propped open all day, which just lets them wander straight in. Who is the actual person to escalate this to? I don't want to wait until something happens to a pet on our block before anyone acts.

Ling, that "took three steps back and sat down" detail is the part that would stick with me too. I'm new here and still figuring out what's normal, so honest question for the group: does a sit-and-watch at daybreak count as habituated, or is that just a coyote being a coyote near a den? And separately — has anyone actually gotten a straight answer on who logs a report once you file it? I'd want to know that before my next walk.
