Two coyotes trotting up Sand Canyon by the Quail Hill trailhead about 20 min ago, 6:40pm, not spooked at all by cars. This is right where families walk. I already dropped a report in Coyote Cacher — please do the same if you see them so the city actually has numbers to act on. Little dogs and kids on leash/hand until these two clear out.

Turtle Rock too, off Sirrine. That sit-down-and-stare thing rattled me the first time I saw it. Animal control here routes to OC Animal Care (714-935-6848), but honest heads-up: unless it's sick or bit something, they usually won't dispatch for a sighting. What actually helped me near the mailboxes was carrying an air horn on the leash walks — Biscuit's a snack to them, so I stopped doing the arm-waving-only thing. Real question for the daylight boldness: anyone know if someone's leaving food out on that greenbelt? That's usually why they stop being afraid.
