Following up from a while back — someone here suggested reporting sightings through the Coyote Cacher instead of just posting them, so I actually did it after seeing one trot across the greenbelt behind Antonio near the Bell Tower park. Took two minutes and it plots on their map. Not worried, just kind of curious now watching where they show up. Anyway, thanks to whoever mentioned it, felt more useful than another photo on here.

Welcome, Feng. I'm no expert, still figuring it out myself, but from what folks here have told me: a single coyote crossing open space at dawn, keeping its distance, not closing in — that's the ordinary version. Forty yards and trotting past sounds like it's just working the field for rodents. What made me pay attention was different — one that stops, stares, and holds ground instead of moving off, or starts showing up at the same spot expecting something. If yours ever shifts from "glances and keeps going" to "lingers," that's when I'd note it.
