Question for whoever handles our HOA landscaping schedule up here off Robinson Ranch. The greenbelt sprinklers along the walking path have been running before 5am and I've noticed the standing water in the low spots is drawing rabbits at first light, and where there are rabbits I'm now seeing a coyote working that stretch a couple mornings this week. I don't want to overreact and I know they've got every right to be here, but can we look at shifting the irrigation to midday and getting the two overflowing trash enclosures by the mailboxes latched properly? Trying to make our patch a little less of a convenient stop, not chase anything off. Happy to bring it to the next board meeting if someone can tell me who to loop in.

Welcome, Feng. A coyote standing and watching usually isn't stalking you, it's curious and sizing up Momo as a small animal, which is exactly why that stomach-drop is worth listening to. The habits that actually matter: keep Momo on a short six-foot leash (never retractable) so you can scoop him fast, and carry something to make yourself big and loud. If one holds its ground, don't turn and jog, that reads as prey. Face it, wave your arms, shout, toss a rock its direction. Route-switching matters less than looking unpredictable and unwilling to be watched calmly. Dawn along the O'Neill edge is prime coyote hour, but you don't have to give it up, just walk it like you own it.
