Was reading up on why we're seeing more of them along Jeffrey Open Space lately and it clicked: this is pup season winding down, so the adults are ranging wider to feed growing juveniles. It's normal, not a sign anything's wrong. The thing that actually shifts their behavior is us — a coyote that finds cat food on a porch or fallen avocados under a tree learns to come back and stops keeping its distance. So the single most useful thing any of us can do is boring: bring the pet dishes in at night, pick up fruit drop, latch the trash. Keep them a little wild and they mostly keep to the greenbelt, which is where they've always been. If you want daytime sightings logged somewhere useful, the Coyote Cacher map takes them.
