Little thing that's been working for us on the Jeffrey Open Space Trail: I moved our dog's morning walk to right after sunrise instead of the pre-dawn slot. Same loop, but the coyotes we used to cross paths with near the Hicks Canyon end seem to keep their distance in full light — we just give them room and keep Mochi on a short leash. Our HOA over in Northwood added a couple of "keep dogs leashed at dusk/dawn" signs by the trailhead last month and honestly I think it's helped set the tone for everyone.

The short-leash-plus-daylight combo is exactly what we do around the Ladera trails too, and it really does change the whole dynamic. Nice that your HOA leaned into signage rather than panic — I wish more boards understood that a calm reminder does more than a scary one.
