Walked the San Clemente beach trail below Calafia around 6:40 this morning and a coyote was just sitting up on the bluff, watching the water with me. Didn't move, didn't care about me — just soaking up the fog burning off. Honestly one of the calmest things I've seen down there. Gave it plenty of room and kept going. We share that stretch, and mornings like that are a good reminder why it's worth it.
